I’ve been using Gmail on my mobile for a while. Been givin’ me hard time, really. Most of the time I’d receive the “Data server not available” — a lot of hassle. I downloaded the Gmail Mobile-client yesterday and been playin’ with it since then. It saved me a lot of bandwidth/credit to be honest. Gave me all the interaction that is available on Gmail on the web with all the AJaX active stuff.

Naturally every time I used a web-based service on mobile I was disappointed with the user-interface limitation and the poor interaction on the mobile-web. I’m so against installing clients and software whenever I could do the same thing online using a web-browser. Not with Gmail on Mobile.

After months of suffering using my mobile-web-browser to access my Gmail, I’m finally wearing a smile while checking my e-mails.I’m using Gmail Mobile-client.

What do I get?

  • A Java e-mail client that accesses your Gmail accounts
  • No configurations at all! User name and password, that’s it!
  • You get the same interaction using the AJaXy GMail on your computer’s browser
  • You get all the features that you’ve been enjoying in Gmail, starting with Conversational messaging to Stars and Labels
  • You definitely save bandwidth and credit
  • Easier life on the road!

Even though it’s a perfect client for now, expect more clicks than the regular GMail, well, it’s mobile, be patient with that for now.

Download it using your mobile by pointing your browser to http://www.gmail.com/app and feel the freedom from Firefox or Safari while using your GMail.

More on this as I get to know it more and play more with it.
