Web company, you're scary!
Last night I attended a networking event and it was a blast, met really nice people and discussed web and online marketing with very interesting people busy in the same area. What was shocking was how the other business runners who were not related to Advertising and Marketing thought doing a Web business is a cheap thing to do. Weired feeling!
The bad image
From the discussions that I had I came to know how frustrated the’ve come to get after being overpromised and overcharged when first trying to wet their toes in the Web world. According to what I understood they have either been abused by non-professionals or were not aware of their websites potential.
Here’s a quote that shocked me:
90% of the websites designed in the Middle East are copy-paste work.
What an image. They have the right to say that, according to their backgrounds.
A nice gentle man said:
We were emailed and told to redesign our website by an American web agency who had designed and was awarded for designing a website that ours was copied from.
How can you convince people that this is just the nature of the business, and it’s the marketer’s responsibility to be educated on the matters of web. But still, those kind of fast cut-paste work ruins all the efforts we as designers and developers of websites make.
What is the solution? How can we raise the awareness?
